Ive been receiving this error for awhile, "Fire fox cant connect to a.websponsors.com".
This would happen when i clicked on certain offers, and throughout the process of an offer, i also received cant connect error for ads.doubleclick.com, and a lot of other advertising sites listed in the offers.
This drove me insane and the solution was not easy to find either, but I found it and hope that if this helps it was worth posting, as this is my 1st post.
Im not going to go into details, Im just going to tell you how to fix it.
1. go to start - run - type: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
2. this will display several files, you should see 3 files labeled hosts, opening the files with notepad. then click edit - select all - and delete the text, then you will need to copy and paste the text into the file that I've listed below. once you have done this click file and then save, and continue to the next hosts page. apparently any website listed on these pages will never load giving the connection error page on Firefox, and a blank page on internet explorer.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
# If there is a domain name you would rather never see, simply add a line
# that reads "127.0.0.1 machine.domain.tld". This will have the effect of
# redirecting any requests to that host to your own computer. For example
# this will prevent your browser from downloading banner ads, or sending
# your information back to a company.
# Do not touch localhost!
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
# Uncomment this to block the Netscape news service from pushing news
# items to your netscape client.
#127.0.0.1 messenger.netscape.com
# Spyware and user tracking
# Uncomment (remove the #) the lines that you wish to block, as some
# may provide you with services you like.
#127.0.0.1 auto.search.msn.com # Microsoft uses this server to redirect
# mistyped URLs to search engines. They
# log all such errors.
