Hello. A few days ago, I tried to sign into SimpleGPT and it showed that my account is "banned". I have only been on the site about once in the past two months. I have a new computer within the last two months and also started using a new dial-up internet company (earthlink) but I access everything through Safari or Firefox browsers. I had AOL before this and have never had any problems. I'm at the same physical address that I've always been at but I'd imagine that my IP number is different now, from the combination of a new computer and changed ISP company. I emailed the owner of the site, on Sunday, like it was suggested here to these other banned people but haven't received a reply yet. I'm in no hurry, but thought maybe the owner would see the message here. Mary Ann

The same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I used internet explorer to log in. Earthlink and most dial up companies use a proxy to access the internet. I was able to disable the proxy in firefox by clicking tools, options, advanced, and on the network tab click settings and make sure the box that says NO PROXY is checked. I still have not found out how to permanently disable the proxy using IE. Hope this helps for future reference.

Hi babygirl35768!
Thanks for your help. I haven't checked if the administrator's answered me, since a few days ago, but it looks like I'm still banned when I try to sign in. Checking email right now...
But I will look for the proxy settings for my browser. I'm on a Mac but I should be able to find it and fix it. Everything's been ok in the past on AOL dial-up, and I've even had Earthlink dial-up within my GPT years, and not had a problem. I'd think, more likely, the problem is that it's registering as being on totally new address. With having a new computer, combined with a new dial-up company at the same time. I have heard about the proxy issue when using AOL or earthlink, so....I'll see.
And you say that it happened to you... banned just a couple weeks ago? Well, hopefully I'll have a reply. Thanks!

I still haven't received an answer about this from the email I sent and it's been a week and a half. Does anyone know how else to contact the administrator, other than email?

You are emailing him at simplegpt.com@gmail.com? Notice that there are two ".com" in the email address -- some people skip one.

shirlchave, I just checked and I received a reply on wednesday and he changed something and told me to try it now, but I'm still showing as "banned". I ran that proxy test that you posted and it shows that my ISP is going through a proxy. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks for your help. I'll see what the adminstrator says to do. I can't figure out how to get out of the proxy problem. I never had trouble in all the years of using AOL. But Earthlink is causing trouble and the accelerator only works half the time. My internet is so unbelievably slow, each time I get a better computer, dial-up internet speed gets worse, which I can't understand! And all the sites have so much content anymore that dial-up isn't what it used to be in the olden days. That's why I hadn't check, again, my email for a reply from Bryan, till today. Thanks!

Most likely the accelerator is what is causing the problem. Those work through a proxy. You will need to turn that off anytime you use this site.

Thanks Shirlchave for the accelerator information. I didn't know that and it's made me rethink other problems I've been having. I'm not continuing with Earthlink after this current month, anyway, I decided. The accelerator was so sporatic anyway and didn't offer much on most sites I go to.
And the administrator did respond and fixed it for me to log on Monday!
