Well, I tried to register to SimpleGRT using both FF & IE, but both times I got a message saying I was using a proxy. Thing is, I'm not. So that's really strange!
So I decided to try to join this forum, which obviously I was able to. So I'm not sure why I'm ok to join here but not the site.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.
TIA, GPTwitter

The forum does not have a proxy checker, hence why you were able to join here.
What ISP are you using?

Dialupatcost is the ISP I'm using. It's dialup ----- sloooowwww..... lol! I couldn't use a proxy because I'd never get anywhere. I'm also using "Slip Stream" which is supposed to speed up things a little thru CGI rendering and it does help a little. But that's it. No proxy. Living in an area where literally dial-up is my only choice atm.
Thanks for your response.

It sounds like SlipStream is the problem here. Thanks Google.

Thanks Joshua.
I think most web accelerator programs create some form of proxy. You would need to turn that off and keep it off any time you used the site.

ahhhh......... I thought SS was strictly image related. Go figure! I just did some tweaking to some of my FF settings (pipeline related) & thought maybe I "broke" something. I'll turn SS off & see if I can register. When you're on d/u you try anything to help speed up the system!!!!! lol......

Now I got something else that is strange. I was able to register on the site just fine after shutting down my SS. But now when I tried to login to the site I get an error that says "You're flagged as cheating" ? Hmmmmmm not too sure what that means. I did have to re-boot and when I tried to login I forgot to shut down SS so I shut it down & then tried to login again and the same thing. I'm not sure if it's because I tried logging in with SS running or what. I haven't even done anything on the site so I know I sure haven't cheated.......... lol!!! Any insights as to what this means would be greatly appreciated! I use FF & Vista so I'm not sure if that's a problem but I'm sure other ppl must use the same set up. I'm confused..........

We had talked about this in the chat. Did you have any issues after uninstalling the program?

Hopefully, this all has been rectified at this point, but for reference, once an account is marked as cheater (which is an auto feature which detects proxies or two accounts signing on from the same IP), the only way to get the cheater status turned off is to contact Doug. Once it marked, it stays there unless Doug intervenes.

Sorry to get back so late. I was out of town for a few. I uninstalled it and found that it seemed to make a difference in loading times of some the sites that I went out and timed on sitemeter.com. So I re-installed it. I have a yellow sticky note stuck on the edge of my monitor with "Quit SlipStream for SimpleGPT". So that should remind me. I have the SS icon in the task bar so it shouldn't be a big deal! It worked now. So I guess I'll just bounce back and forth until they have something better than dial-up to offer us out here....... Thanks you guys for your help. At least now I know what it is. I was really shocked when I had that note come up saying I was cheating, I thought "how the heck and why the heck am I cheating" ?? lol..... You guys rock!
